There's a LOT going on here, but don't be overwhelmed. For now, just start with the most important thing- your Advance Directive! National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) happens annually on April 16th. Set a goal to have it completed by then!
what is S.C.R.I.p.t.?
SCRIPT stands for Support, Community, Resources, Intention, Partners, and Transition — the essential elements needed to help someone thoughtfully write their final chapter. SCRIPTed brings these pieces together so individuals and families aren’t navigating end-of-life planning alone. It’s a framework, a support system, and a way to make sure every story is honored the way it was meant to be.
Building your script
SCRIPTED- the story behind the language
SCRIPTed isn't just a planning framework -- it's a reflection of how I think. I've always loved metaphors, storytelling, and clever acronyms. They help me connect ideas, bring structure to difficult topics, and turn over whelming tasks into something creative and meaningful.
Key Acronyms & Language
CUE stands for: Connect. Understand. Empower. SCRIPTed CUE cards are physical cards given to individuals by certified Allies. These cards can have contact information for our SCRIPTed Allies, or general information that you want your loved ones to know about.
Scenes (Metaphor): Each area of end-of-life planning is treated as a "scene" that's part of your larger story. Let's take a closer look at those scenes in the next section...
explore the "scenes"
- The Cleveland Collective- a tribute page to my community.
- Legal and Practical- wills, POA, advance directives, ID, digital legacy
- Medical & End-of-Life Care- Hospice, MAiD, POLST
- Intention & Planning- Personal wishes, rituals, music, "final touches"
- Healing and Nature based- Eco burial, shrouds, composting, home funerals
- Emotional & Relational- Grief, conflict, forgiveness, family support
- Identity & Inner Life- Gender, belief systems, ancestry
- Ceremony & Legacy- Letters, art, storytelling, memory-making
- Venues & hosts- Event planning, home hosting, site logistics, post-death coordination (e.g. transport to funeral home or burial site).
Every scene has a supporting cast -- the ones who make it possible for your plan to take the stage. Check them out in the next section...
the scripted allies
Behind every scene is someone who helps make it real. SCRIPTed Allies are professionals and service providers who are trained to understand the importance of your plan — and honor it. Whether you’re completing your living will, hiring a hair stylist for your final scene, or making sure your wishes to have your remains turned into a tree will be honored, these certified Allies are committed to clarity, compassion, and follow-through.
Each Ally offers a SCRIPTed CUE card when you connect — a physical reminder that someone has listened, supported, and is ready to carry your wishes forward. One scene at a time, your story becomes a plan others can carry out with confidence.
